Seven Dead Pirates
The book starts at a birthday party for Great-Granddad. He yells at furniture. His last words are “Libertalia. You!” Great-Granddad leaves Lewis a ship in a bottle inside his room where dead pirates live. Lewis is a scaredy-cat. The ghost pirates want to go to their ship at the museum. They need a plan – which someone hates. (Guess who? Jack the Rat, the scariest pirate.) The ghosts are afraid of cars. They move so fast – unnaturally fast. The pirates make Lewis read them books about pirates. Captain Dire is the villain of the story. He sank the seven pirates’ ship. At school, Lewis is like in lemur society, the lowest rank. Seth is a bully. He tells Lewis, “You’re in my square.” Then the kindergarteners team up on Seth. Will the pirates get their ship back? Read the book to find out. People who like pirates will like this book. The story is funny. The pirates are not scary. Jack the Rat, the mean guy, is the funniest one. Bellows is my favorite pirate. The walking toy was fun – and when the kindergartner wanted to get thrown. I loved the ending. It’s okay that there are no pictures in the book.
