Rules of the Ruff
Jessie is staying with her aunt and uncle over the summer, but she is bored because her cousin is busy with a friend. She persuades Wes, who runs a neighborhood dog-walking business, to let her be his assistant. And by persuades, I mean she pesters him until he says, “Fine, irritating small person, I will take you on.” Jessie is elated because she loves dogs and working with Wes will alleviate some of her boredom. She starts off as a poop-scooper, but she is soon promoted to walking her own small pack of dogs.
Life seems great until a new dog-walker comes to town and takes most of their business away! How will Jessie and Wes get their customers back? They come up with Operation Sabotage, where they cut open dog bags, put bacon grease on leashes so the dogs attack leashes, and make their rival look like a bad dog-walker. Will Operation Sabotage work?
I liked this book because it was exciting and unpredictable. The storyline was unique because the ending had an interesting plot twist I didn’t see coming! I think people will enjoy this story because the characters are relatable, for better and worse.
