Magic on the Map #2: The Show Must Go On
Even though their Dad is going to trade the magic camper back for his car, the camper is still in the driveway, so twins Molly and Finn Parker sneak out early in the morning to have one last look at it. They’re really hoping for another adventure like the first one they had. Last time, the Planet Earth Transporter (PET) in the camper had taken them from Ohio to Colorado for a cattle drive. The PET can move through space but not time. This time, they magically travel to New York City, where they take part in a scavenger hunt all over New York City for a singing star.
Magic on the Map: The Show Must Go On by Courtney Sheinmel and Bianca Turetsky is the second book in this series. The authors teach us a lot about New York, although there is a lot they don’t mention about the city because it’s so big. Maybe this means they can go back there in a later adventure and we can learn some more about the city. I would like that. We learn more about the twins as well, and when they talk they sound more normal than they did in the first book. The drawings are simple but nice.
This was a good book and I look forward to reading more books in the series and seeing where they go. I want to know more about the twins as well. You don’t really have to read the first book in the series to get this one, so don’t worry about that. I think this book would be good for kids who are young readers and younger kids who can’t read yet can enjoy this book if their mom or dad reads it to them.
