Petal and Poppy and the Penguin (Green Light Readers Level 2)
In Petal and Poppy and the Penguin the penguin surprises Petal by showing up in the garden but Petal only hears the penguin honk and doesn’t even see him. So, she feels scared because she doesn’t know what it is honking at her. Poppy doesn’t like to see Petal scared so she goes to chase away whatever is in the garden but sees that it is just a nice penguin and that he isn’t scary at all. That made me happy. I liked that she didn’t just chase him away. She ended up helping him and taking care of him and that was nice of her. Petal doesn’t like the penguin right away but sees that he isn’t a bad penguin at all. I like that she gets to know him and sees something different than what she first thought about him. Then the penguin gives Petal and Poppy a big surprise Thank You for being so nice to him. My favorite thing about the book was that it is like a comic book and easy to read.
