Ida, Always
Two polar bears, Ida and Gus live in a city zoo. Ida and Gus are best friends. They loved to swim and play together every day. One day, Ida was sleeping in late and the zookeeper came to tell Gus that Ida was sick. She would not be in any pain, Ida wouldn’t swim and play as much and one day Ida would not wake up, she would die. Gus and Ida spent lots of time together, playing, and laying in the sun. Then the day came, Gus pushed Ida’s paw, but she was gone. Gus was very sad when Ida died. He missed her and sometimes would go looking for her. But he will remember Ida, Always.
Ida, Always made me feel all kinds of emotions. It made me happy, but also really sad. My mom and I cried while reading it. I really liked it, even though it made me sad when Ida died and Gus was all alone. I liked how the author based the book on the real polar bears at New York’s Central Park Zoo. The illustrations were beautiful to look at. I think Ida, Always would be good for families who have someone who is sick or who has died.
