A Book of Babies
This book is about baby animals and their mommies and daddies. In the story, baby animals get born and start to grow up on their first day. There are ducks, fish, and other animals. I do not like that there are no giraffes. I would like to see a baby giraffe in a book like this. The illustrations look like paintings that are very gentle. This is good because baby animals are sweet. I was surprised to find out that a daddy seahorse has a pouch! This book shows some opposites like “warm fur” and “smooth scales.” It also tells how some animals have brothers and sisters but others do not have any brothers and sisters. At the beginning there are noisy ducklings but at the end they are sleeping ducklings. I think that was a good change. My favorite part is near the end where the author said, “But at the end of their very first day, babies everywhere need their rest…” This book is best for young children. Their mommies and daddies will like reading it to their little kids.
