Toby
First Toby hatches out of his egg – kerplop! – on top of another egg. He hears a song in his mind that tells him to go to the sea. He’s inside of a big pit that his mother made so his egg was safe from outside dangers. A pelican wants to take him for a ride to the sea, but he doesn’t accept it and slips between the pelican’s legs. Then a big crab says he wants to take him for a ride to the sea, but he says, ‘nope!’ But then he sees a big alligator that wants to eat him. The alligator says something to get Toby into his mouth, but then the alligator says, “Kachoo!” and sneezes him out. Toby lands on a big floating coral , and he saw all of his others brothers and sisters swim by and said, “I want to take a nap!” and so he did.
What I like about this book is that it tells you a turtle’s life about getting into the sea. It had good pictures and it was very fun. I kept thinking that Toby would be eaten each time. I was glad that he made it to the sea!
