Time Out of Time
Time Out of Time: Beyond the Door filled me with wonder and made me think of authors like J. K. Rowling and Neil Gaiman. I was familiar with Greek and Roman mythology, but I had no idea that the Celts had a mythology of their own. Characters like Sarah, with her wacky responses and warm feeling, made me laugh. Jessica, who went out into a storm and regretted it, made me worry. The shape-shifting wolf dog Gwydon is a happy, funny companion who reminds me of my dog, Dottie. Balor, the pale, bony, one-eyed evildoer, haunted me and thrilled me at the same time. The hero of the story, Timothy, who knows the Scrabble point count for all his words, becomes more brave and trusts himself more as the story unfolds. I saw myself with Timothy in the past and present in the book. If I were to recommend any books to my friends, (I do this very often,) I would recommend this book (and I did!)
