In Drocknock, there is a drought, cows have gone missing, and the townspeople have chicken pox. The old wizard couldn’t fix any of the problems, so he sends for a replacement while he goes to the Home for Retired Wizards.

When the young replacement wizard arrives, he tells the townspeople to watch the moon over their shoulders, catch a bee with a jar, and to wash their faces with buttermilk. Their chicken pox was cured! He then found a spell to return the cows home in the Wizard Encyclopedia. The farmer was so excited to have his cows home that he hosted a skating party for the town!

But, the most important problem was the drought. The townspeople couldn’t survive without water. When the spell calls for five wizard’s tears, the young wizard produces way too many tears on accident and his spell backfires! Can the young wizard figure out how to fix a very big problem on his own?

I like the pictures in this book, especially the one with all the little frogs peeking up out of the pond. I also think the boots on the cows are cute! The story is unique, creative, and interesting.
