The Perfect Percival Priggs
There was this boy named Percy, and everything he did was perfect. If you asked him how he was he said, “I am perfect, thank you,” but he really wasn’t. He only said that because he thought that his parents were perfect, and that if they knew that he wasn’t truly perfect, that they wouldn’t love him. So, he tried to make it seem like he was perfect. But then, later on he was entered into all these contests, and he didn’t like so many of them, and his parents showed him that they weren’t perfect. So they told him to do what he wanted. He decided to build sandcastles, and listen to music, and study worms, and look at dragonflies or bugs. Then, he was a lot happier, and his parents still loved him.
This book is really fun. I like the message, which is that your parents want you to be happy, and they love you no matter what, and it’s okay to not be perfect. The pictures are really fun and funny. I really like the one where Percy is blasting off through the kitchen with a rocket!
