Paul is a fish and he swims in circles. Then one day, Bernadette drops in. Bernadette says, “Can’t you realize there’s a whole world out there?” So she shows him the world. Paul asks Bernadette what a banana is on a plate, and she says it is a boat. Paul sees some milk and other bottles, and Bernadette says that it’s a city. Paul asks, “What’s its name?” and she says, “Milkwaukee.” But before that he sees some flowers, and Bernadette says it’s a forest, don’t you know? Paul sees a clock, and Bernadette says it’s a cactus, and after that, Bernadette sees a teapot and says it’s an elephant that is not dangerous, but you should not disturb her when she is feeding her babies, which is the teacups! The last thing they see is a spoon, which Bernadette says is a fish! Now Paul doesn’t go around in circles; he goes around Bernadette! He liked what Bernadette showed him. On the back is a portrait of them on the boat, fishing, with the city in the back. I like this book a lot. It is really funny, especially on the back. I like how Bernadette says everything is different from what it is, and they are just really goldfish.
