The Murk
I really liked reading The Murk because it is so scary! The story is about a girl named Piper and her best friend Tad, who knows a lot about plants. They go into the Okefenokee Swamp to search for a flower that has magical healing powers to save someone special to Piper. Some legends say that there is a monster protecting the flower, but Piper does not care. She will get the flower, no matter what! Piper and Tad use an old journal written by Dr. Brisbane Cole, a relative of Tad’s, to help them find the flower.
The book is also interesting because it is full of science facts about swamps, plants, and the animals that live there. It made me want to learn more about the different types of creepy creatures.
My favorite part of the book is where Piper fights with Mergo. Even though it looks like she will die, she is determined to save Tad. What a great friend!
This is a wonderful story about bravery, perseverance, and the meaning of true friendship. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good suspenseful story.
