The Lost Kitten
This book is about my favorite animal, a kitten! But it is a bit sad as it talks about separating from mom and getting lost. I get very emotional when I read it. Hina and his mom open the door one day and find a skinny kitten with the mother behind. The mother seems to ask if they will take care of it, and Hina’s mom takes him in. She cleans up the kittens’ eyes, which are blue and beautiful, and gives it some milk. Then she prepares a bed and a litter box while Hina is gently petting it. Mom leaves to go buy some cat food, and Hina starts thinking of names to give the cat, but she realizes that the cat is gone. She can’t find it anywhere in the house and decides to go look outside. She remembers when she got lost at the store and started to cry, thinking she would never see her mom again (I got lost, too, and that is a scary feeling!). When Hina decides to go back home to pick up a jacket…she sees the kitten asleep on one of her sweaters. The cat keeps sleeping on her sweater, so she decides to call it Sleepy.
