The Count of Monte Cristo: Manga Classics

This book is a manga adaptation of the classic story The Count of Monte Cristo. In the story, Edmond Dantes is a sailor who has just returned from a trip to find that he is going to be made captain of the ship and marry a beautiful girl named Mercedes. However, there is another person who wants to be captain and someone else who wants to marry Mercedes. These two plot to send Dantes to prison. While in prison, Dantes meets another prisoner, who tells him about a secret treasure on the island of Monte Cristo. When Dantes escapes from prison, he goes and finds the treasure, then uses the money to plot his revenge on his enemies.

This plot was cleverly put together. There are twists and surprises you will really enjoy. The manga retelling is really fun. The illustrations are interesting and convey a lot of action and emotion; they are a quick and easy way to get an understanding of the main points of the story. Reading this book is a pleasure, and it will make you want to read the original, too!
