Polaris, by Mindee Arnett, is about a boy named Jethro Seagrave who flies a spaceship called Avalon. His mom got captured by the ITA, which is similar to the government, except that it wants more and more power. Jethro’s sister has special powers and that is why the ITA wants her and her mother. Most of the people alive wear implants. An implant is a tentacle-like ball that fits into the back of your head. It is put into a special hole called the architecture. There are different colored implants: red is the master implant and it controls the other brains in its group. Hammer, a drug dealer, wears a red implant. Jeth and his crew used to work for him. Through the implant you can talk to others. With a little help from two unexpected friends Jeth learns to adapt to his implant and soon masters it. But will it be enough to save his mom from the ITA? Will it be enough to keep control of his mind? Read Polaris to find out.
