Nate Likes to Skate (I Like to Read)

Nate loves to go on his skateboard and goes to visit his friend Kate. Kate loves wearing funny hats. When Nate asks Kate to skate together, Kate says she hates it. Nate’s feelings are hurt, and when Kate asks if he likes his new hat (a big tall pink hat, in a shape of a bat), Nate rudely answers that it’s ugly.

This time Kate’s feelings are hurt. Nate hits a bump while skateboarding and goes back to talking to Kate. He apologized for being rude to her. She does the same. They both try each other’s hobby: skateboarding and funny hats. They like it. They have fun together. Now they hold hands while skateboarding and wearing crazy looking hats.

I liked this book. It reminded me that sometimes we don’t want to tell people that we don’t like their things, because we may be hurting their feelings. I also liked it because it used very short and simple words and I was able to read it along with my mom for the most part.
