Nadia Comaneci was a little girl who lived in Romania. She loved to climb and swing in trees. Her parents signed her up for a gymnastics and when she was so good, she was able to go to a special school where she trained really hard for gymnastics. At her first national competition, she fell and didn’t do very well, but Nadia kept practicing and got better. At fourteen years old, she went to the 1976 Olympics. When Nadia competed, the scoreboard showed her score was 1.0, but then the judges said Nadia actually scored a perfect 10, something no one had ever done before, and the scoreboard could only go up to 9.99. Nadia scored perfect 10 on a bunch of her events and won 5 Olympic medals. Nadia was the youngest Olympic gold medalist in gymnastics.

I really loved reading Nadia: The Girl Who Couldn’t Sit Still. I love reading books about real people and learning about what they did in their lives. I do gymnastics, so I was very excited to read about Nadia and how young she was to compete in the Olympics. Nadia: The Girl Who Couldn’t Sit Still was an easy book to read and the illustrations help tell her story. Nadia inspired me to try a cartwheel on a straight line, so I can try to do it on the short beam.
