Mr. McGinty’s Monarchs
Mr. McGuinty’s Monarchs is about an older man and his dog, Sophie. They love to watch the monarch butterflies. When all the milkweed gets mowed, he rushes to save the caterpillars from the cut down plant. He takes the caterpillars to the school and teaches the students about the lifecycle of monarch butterflies and how to care for them. When the chrysalises hatch, Mr. McGuinty and the students release their monarchs.
I would give this book 100 stars if I could. Mr. McGuinty’s Monarchs is a wonderful book and it makes me want to learn more about how I can help monarch butterflies. My mom said that we can go to our garden center and see about planting milkweed in our yard. Monarchs need milkweed to lay their eggs and eat, planting milkweed will help them survive. The illustrations are so beautiful and I loved looking at the pictures. I especially loved the page with the lifecycle of the monarch. Mr. McGuinty’s Monarchs would also be a good book for classrooms who are learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. I think lots of kids would like Mr. McGuinty’s Monarchs and they should all try to plant milkweed for the butterflies.
