Martha Speaks: Sniffing for Clues Collection
Martha Speaks: Sniffing for Clues Collection is a collection of stories about Martha the talking dog. There are three stories in this book: Martha on the Case; Detective Dog; and Secret Agent Dog. The stories have been published before. They all involve crimes and Martha solving or helping to solve the crimes. Along the way, Helen, Skits, and other familiar characters help her. The first story is about who ate a birthday cake and a jewelry store robbery. The second story is about crooks smuggling rutabagas and a thief. The last story is about saving Granny Flo’s recipe for the soup that allows Martha to talk.
I liked the book. I liked the pictures and the stories. There were also activities throughout the book like games, puzzles, and a craft. The activities were fun. The drawings were typical Martha pictures. The stories were pretty good, too. I didn’t really learn anything new, but younger kids could learn about crime and some new vocabulary words. This book would be good for four- to five-year-olds.
