Little Red Cuttlefish
This is an underwater version of Little Red Riding Hood.Little Red Cuttlefish is taking crab cakes to her grandma’s house, but a shark starts chasing her. It’s different in a way, though, because when she gets to her grandma’s house, the shark chases her away instead of waiting for her inside, and the grandma gets to safety.
I like the idea of one of the original fairy tales taking place underwater. This is a funny book because on the way there, sea creatures start asking her what’s inside her basket, and she tells them the crab cakes are only for her grandma. The illustrations are very colorful. Some of the species of fish are repeated on almost every page, and I like to look for them. One of the other things I really like about this book is the Author’s Note at the back because it explains the two species of fish in it. It also has online resources. This book is good for kids who like the ocean but also for those who are learning about it. Not only is this a fun book but also very adventurous and exciting.
