Frank and Laverne
Frank and Laverne is a dog named Frank and a cat named Laverne. They live together in a house with their humans. The book is written in two parts, Frank’s side and Laverne’s side of the story. You read the first side, then when you get to the middle, you close the book and flip it over to hear the other side of the story. Frank thinks he is on patrol, protecting his home from squirrels and the dog next door, Carl. Laverne thinks Frank is a pest and is always disrupting her naps. Laverne wants to get rid of Frank, but Frank thinks Laverne is his best friend. When Carl gets into the yard, from the gate that Laverne opened, Laverne attacks Carl and Frank thinks Laverne saved his life.
I really liked Frank and Laverne because it was written from the point of view of the cat and the dog. I have a cat and dog at home and I think it is funny to imagine what they are thinking of each other’s behaviors. I think it is funny when Frank thinks when Laverne is attacking him, they are practicing basic training. I think kids will laugh so hard when they read Frank and Laverne.
