Felipe and Claudette
Felipe is a cat and Claudette is a dog; they live together at the animal shelter. Every time adoption day comes, Felipe and Claudette are left behind and not adopted. Mrs. Barrett doesn’t know what to do. Felipe thinks that Claudette will never be adopted because she does all the crazy and annoying dog things that Felipe doesn’t want to do. One day though, a man comes and adopts Claudette because he wants a playful dog. Felipe misses Claudette. When adoption day comes again, the man brings Claudette back because she isn’t playful; she is just sad. Mrs. Barrett decides the best thing to do would be to keep Felipe and Claudette together and adopt them herself.
Sometimes when you think something is annoying, don’t judge it because you might miss it when it’s gone. Claudette was just being a regular dog, and Felipe didn’t like it because she was different. But when the dog wasn’t there, he missed her. I really liked this story. Claudette reminded me of my dog, who we got from an animal shelter. The story also shows that there is a special place for everyone, not just the puppies and kittens that everyone wants, but the older animals at the shelters too.
