Dr. Coo and the Pigeon Protest
Dr. Archibald Coo is a curious pigeon who seems serious. Hootie is a young pigeon. He is excited and upset that pigeons don’t get any respect. Dove says that people like other birds more than pigeons. Vern says that someone almost ran him over with a car on purpose. Dove and Vern are also pigeons.
Dr. Coo comes up with a plan. All the pigeons leave the town. The people aren’t happy. They miss the pigeons. Dr. Coo brings a note and a book of pigeon history to the mayor. What does the note say? Will all the pigeons disappearing make a difference to the people? Read the book to find out.
I think the pigeons got lucky this time. I don’t think disappearing is the best way to protest. It could have not worked. I wish they had taught people different ways to protest, like sit-ins and marches. I would have liked more history of pigeons, too.
I liked the story ending. This is a picture book. The illustrator did a good job. I like the pigeons with the helmets delivering notes during war. I like this book. It’s entertaining and educational.
