Bone Jack
Bone Jack is a book in which a typical, everyday boy faces new challenges. His dad has mental scars after the war, and his best friend isn’t his normal self. But long before all this happened, Ash wanted to train for a stag race, an ancient race with a not-so-happy backstory. Also, Ash just wants the world to go back to normal and thinks that his dad will go back to normal if he wins the race. So, for every race ya gotta train, right? It was a peaceful jog in the mountains, but then a spooky figure arose in the distance. The bone jack.
Bone Jack is a mysterious book that is smartly crafted. My only complaint is, for a children’s book, this is ominously dark, and I don’t think many kiddos out there would enjoy reading such dark material. I personally don’t think it’s bad, necessarily, but I got bored very quickly after reading the first page or so. But, to give some credit, it has a unique storyline and is very engaging for older readers.
