Bailey’s Story: A Dog’s Purpose Novel
A boy named Ethan gets a Labrador retriever, who he names Bailey. This book is the story of him and his dog on a farm. The book is told from Bailey’s point of view. When Ethan gets hurt, Bailey learns that he has a new job: to protect the boy he loves.
In Bailey’s Story: A Dog’s Purpose Novel by W. Bruce Cameron, Bailey learns a lot as the story goes along. So does Ethan as he and Bailey grow up together on a farm. There are other characters in the book who are human and some that are not human: ducks, a horse, and other farm animals. The story is very descriptive and sometimes you are waiting for the action to happen so it gets a little boring at the beginning. The story develops slowly, sometimes a little too slowly. But the author uses this time to develop the characters so that when the major conflict arises, the main characters have a foundation for how they behave. It is a very nice story about a boy and his dog.
This book would be good for kids nine to thirteen years old.
