Marilyn Sadler’s Alice from Dallas takes place in Dallas, Pennsylvania. It is a colorful and funny written book that kids of all ages can enjoy. The two main characters Alice and Lexis are having a showdown because they are jealous of each other. They are trying to find out who is the better cowgirl. Both girls think that they are better than the other. Alice is from Dallas and Lexis is from Texas. So you would think that both girls are like professional cowgirls. What I have learned later in the book is that Dallas is a city in Pennsylvania and Texas is a city in Indiana. The girls are more alike as they may think and they make a great pair of friends. This book teaches you an important lesson about helping each other and making new friends. The cute and funny drawings are also a big part of why you would not want to put the book down. It is an enjoyable read about a subject that every young child encounters sooner or later in life.
