Zen and the Ten Oxherding Pictures

Zen and the Ten Oxherding Pictures is unfortunately just not very good. You can kind of see what the author was trying to do, but it just isn’t very interesting and it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

It seems like it’s written for much older kids than picture books normally are. There is a whole lot of explanation at the back that goes deeply into the religion, which could be interesting if it were written much better.

The pictures are mediocre at best and I just honestly couldn’t really recommend this book to anyone because people who already know the religion probably don’t need this book and people who are curious about it will no longer be curious after flipping through these pages.
