You’re Doing THAT in the Talent Show?!

Penelope is a hippo and she is very excited that there will be a school talent show. Penelope wants to put on an act with her best friend, Tiny, the mouse. Penelope comes up with lots of ideas but Tiny doesn’t like her ideas and keeps saying You’re Doing That in the Talent Show?!.

Penelope wants to dance, put on a Rapunzel skit, or a circus act while Tiny just wants to sing with the school chorus. They decide that can still be friends and not be in the same act. When Penelope gets in trouble during her act, her best friend Tiny steps in to save the show and Penelope.

I liked You’re Doing That in the Talent Show?! My favorite part of the book is the illustrations. They were funny, showing all Penelope’s ideas and Tiny, the mouse was always in a bad spot, having to catch her on the trapeze, or lift her up in ballet. The illustrations tell so much more to the story than just the words. I liked that Penelope and Tiny decided that they could still be best friends and cheer each other on during their acts. I think other young kids would like reading You’re Doing That in the Talent Show?!
