Transportation is a book by the author Gail Gibbons. I have read other books by this author, and I like how she tells the reader lots of interesting information on different topics. What is this big word, “transportation”? Transportation is anything that can go. There are different kinds of transportation, like cars, buses, boats, trains, planes, and vans. People use transportation for many reasons, such as getting to work, shopping, for fun, or visiting friends. The illustrations are big and bold. The author includes demonstrations of types of transportation and identifies vehicles with captions. My favorite thing about this book was that some types of transportation have funny names, like the “yawl” (a type of boat). A memorable quote from this book is, “Some people fly through the sky in airplanes.” I have never been on a plane, but I would like to go on one someday. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about this book – it was very cool. Young readers who really like transportation would enjoy this book. There is a lot to learn about how things go!
