This book is about a zoo in a jungle and a boy named Marlin who lives at the zoo. Marlin stutters really badly and has trouble talking to people. His speech therapist suggested he get a pet so his dad got him a monkey. Marlin was able to talk to the monkey. A mystical black jaguar, who was recently captured and put in the zoo, gives Marlin the powers to talk with and understand the animals.

Marlin’s father, the owner of the zoo, planned an event to make the monkeys and tigers fight in front of an audience. Marlin knew this was wrong so he devised a plan to stop the event.

This was one of the best books I ever read. It isn’t good or great… it’s excellent! The story was unique and exciting. I liked the character of Marlin. He was kind even though some people were not nice to him. He fought hard to do the right thing. I wanted to keep reading this book and couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend this book.
