The Very Hungry Plant

The Very Hungry Plant reminds me of the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar. In both stories, the characters are hungry and end up getting bigger because of the things that they eat. In The Very Hungry Plant, a plant pops up from the ground and feels hungry; it sees different things go by and eats them and then grows bigger, going up toward the sky while still being hungry. The plant starts with eating small things and ends up eating big things, like a spaceship and a choir of angels! The plant finally gets full, but there isn’t as happy of an ending for the plant as in The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

I liked this book. My favorite thing that the plant ate was the choir of angels and my younger brother’s favorite thing was a gecko––we laughed at a lot of the things that it ate! It is silly that it eats other things besides getting its food from water and the sun like other plants. I’ve learned about Venus Flytraps, so it might be like that plant. This book is fun to see what the next thing will be on each page.
