Six people are invited to spend a golden weekend with Jewel Van Hanen, a social media darling who created the widely popular app, Golden Rule. But when they arrive, nothing is as expected. Instead of a fun weekend, the six players have to compete in estate-wide games that hide more danger than they appear.
The Marvelous holds the promise of fun puzzles and interesting characters, instead, I spent most of the first half of the book confused, there are too many puzzles thrown at once to keep track of and I stepped trying to solve them before long. All the characters are different in their own way, yet they still felt flat and I found none of them, except the two boys who are unwillingly there, likable. After a build-up to an exciting climax, it fell to a disappointing end that was half saved by something that is said in the last few pages. There is scattered language throughout.
