Ivy Blake is an 11-year old girl who lives with her best friend Prairie on a big farm in Texas. Ivy is living with her friend because her mom wanted to get rid of her just for a while. Her mom shot her dad, so it’s not like she had a good relationship with her mom anyway. The Education of Ivy Blake is the story of how Ivy is taken back in by her mom even though Ivy wants to stay with her friend because her mom throws all sorts of tantrums. Ivy has to put up with a lot and gets stronger as a result.

I liked the book because it was very interesting to see the struggles Ivy goes through and how she does things to get over the struggles and try to get back to her friend. Her struggles were very realistic. I could picture what was going on easily. It did not really help me think about my struggles or how to get through them, but I still enjoyed the book. I think I’ll read it again. This book would be good for girls 8 to 15.
