The Boy from Tomorrow
The Boy from Tomorrow is an exciting book about Alec, who lives in the year 2015 and meets Josie and her little sister, Cass, from the year 1915, through a spirit board. Alec soon learns about the trouble the sisters are in. Their mean mother treats them poorly, barely feeds them, and the girls are trying to escape their horrible future. Alec and the girls keep communicating through the spirit board and later the phonograph. The girls’ only friends are Alec and their old tutor, Emily. Through a series of crazy events, the sisters manage to escape and live with their tutor, and Alec is happy to find old newspaper clippings that confirm the girls’ wellbeing.
I really liked this book because it was a little spooky at times because of the mean mother and the spirit board. The way they communicated was cool, and it made me wonder if something like this would ever work…but I’m not sure I would dare to try it. The book often switched from 1915 to 2015, but it was easy to follow. Because the book was a little scary here and there, I’d recommend it for ages 10 and up!
