The Best Friend Battle
Nine year old Sylvie Scruggs is inseparable with her best friend, Miranda Tan. That is, until she hears her buddy Miranda cheering for Georgie Diaz (Sylvie’s enemy) during a baseball game. Despite Miranda’s protests that Georgie really is not so bad, Sylvie feels as if she has just entirely lost her friend. Naturally, Sylvie wants to prove that she is better than Georgie, and recover her seemingly broken friendship.
Since Miranda’s birthday is just around the corner, Sylvie wants to prove herself by giving Miranda the best birthday present ever. Unfortunately, nothing Sylvie can make seems good enough, and she is all out of money. Georgie Diaz, on the other hand, does not seem to be having any trouble finding a gift. As the pressure mounts, and Miranda’s birthday approaches, will Sylvie find an amazing present?
The Best Friend Battle is the typical early chapter girl drama book. While there are no plot holes, boring parts, or confusing bits, the book also does not have anything spectacular or out-of-the-ordinary plot twists or characters.
The Best Friend Battle is an okay book about friendship, suited for girls ages seven to ten.
