This book is set place in 1346 in England. The main character, the Badger, is a thirteen-year-old who wanted to go to the war but his father would not let him go because he had poor eyesight because he had albinism. Even with bad eyesight, the Badger was a master archer. His friend Hugh was two years older and he went to the battles. The Badger went to look for him. On the way he met six new friends and together they stole for food. The badger left his new friends and went to look for Hugh. He met an injured enemy soldier on his journey. This changed the way the Badger thought about war and the enemy.

I thought it was an excellent book. There was a lot of action and adventure which made me want to read the book for hours at a time. The fact that the book is set in 1346 makes it more interesting and unique. I hope this becomes a series. In the book, the Badger said he would return to his new friends but he didn’t. Maybe he will return in the next book?
