Revenge of the Giant Robot Chickens (Kelpies)
The first thing I would say about Revenge of the Giant Robot Chickens is that it’s full of spoilers, so read the first book in the series before this one so you don’t miss everything that happened in the first one (This is coming from someone who hasn’t read the first book). In this book, a giant, black, metal chicken, eventually dubbed The Chickenator, is catching all of the leaders of the council for the surviving humans in Aberdeen, a small town. Most of the world has been taken over by the giant, metal, robot chickens, though Turkey and Aberdeen have not been taken over, which is funny because the chickens wanted to take over Turkey and rename it ‘Chicken.’
This book, a post-apocalyptic novel that doesn’t take itself too seriously, is unique because it’s about giant robot chickens invading the world and capturing everybody. I’ve never seen that before, and I really like that in a book. And I liked that it’s a combination of seriousness and humor. It’s for younger audiences, though you need to be able to read. That’s kind of necessary. Overall, I recommend this book. Get the first one, and then get this one.
