There is a panda who has doughnuts. He asks if the penguin would like a doughnut. The penguin says, “Give me the pink one!” but Mr. Panda says, “No, I have changed my mind.” He doesn’t say why he has changed his mind. Then he asks if the skunk would like a doughnut, and it says it wants the blue one and the yellow one. The ostrich doesn’t want a doughnut, and the whale says he wants them all, and that then the panda should bring him some more! The panda won’t give doughnuts to anyone. But then a lemur comes and says, “May I have a doughnut, PLEASE Mr. Panda?” and the panda says he can have them all! The lemur says thank you!

This book says you need to say please when you ask for something and you need to be polite. None of the animals was polite except for the lemur. If you don’t say please you don’t get a doughnut. I like the pictures because the panda looks grumpy because everyone doesn’t say please! He’s black and white and the other animals are too, but the doughnuts are all different colors, but the panda doesn’t like them!
