Two teenagers battle for their lives in the Alaskan wilderness with killers on their trail. This story focuses on Maddie Manchester, a former secret service agent’s daughter and her friend Logan, the president’s son. Six years ago, kidnappers tried to take Logan’s mother from the White House, which led to Maddie and her father leaving for the Alaskan wilderness. Now Logan has shown up after ignoring all of Maddie’s letters, and he is being tracked by kidnappers. This is a fast-paced story that has danger and adventure and is told in a realistic way. The author seems very knowledgable about the wilderness. Maddie is a funny, smart, tough, and strong girl who knows how to survive in the wilderness. She is very likeable and keeps you rooting for her as she tries to save their lives. The dialogue is good, and I liked that we got to see things from both of their perspectives. The plot is good, and the action keeps you wanting to read more. I would recommend this book to anyone in sixth grade and above who likes adventures and fights between good and bad. You won’t want to put the book down until the end!
