Nick’s Very First Day of Baseball

I have never read a book like this before. Nick’s Very First Day of Baseball is a great book for any kid who loves baseball or wants to learn about it. The book is about Nick going to baseball practice for the first time. Nick is taught what happens at practice and why your coach acts the way he does. He learns playing baseball is fun. He also learns to play fair and to listen to directions. I play baseball in a travel league, and Nick’s Very First Day of Baseball tells you all about the game as if you didn’t know anything. The book includes quiz questions about how to run the bases and what equipment you use in baseball. The book also has fun activities for the reader to do. I read this book with my mom, and she thought it was great, too. She doesn’t know a lot about baseball and she said this would help her understand what’s happening during the game. The book takes you through step by step. It talks about equipment, uniforms, and being a leader. These are all great things for a young baseball player to know. Baseball is definitely my favorite sport, because it shows how teamwork can help you to accomplish anything.

In the book, Nick’s coach taught the whole team the phrase “1-2-3 eyes on me.” This phrase helped the team because it told them to quiet down and to listen to the coach’s directions. I think this book would be great for younger kids. I would say maybe ages 3 years old to 7 years old. I think this book would be great for these ages because it has a lot of phrases that younger kids can understand, and explains the game at a young child’s level. I would enjoy reading more books like this.
