Magic Tree House #54: Balto of the Blue Dawn
Balto of the Blue Dawn In this Magic Tree House Merlin Mission book, Jack and Annie travel to Alaska in 1925. There they met a boy named Oki and his Uncle Joe, who tell them about a disease called diphtheria. Many people in their town are very sick, and they need medicine. The townspeople are waiting for Gunnar Kaasen to get there with the medicine. Jack and Annie volunteer to go and find Gunnar Kaasen and his famous lead sled dog, Balto. Oki and Uncle Joe lend Jack and Annie their dogs and sled. Jack and Annie have to go from Nome, Alaska to Anchorage to get the medicine even though there is a blizzard coming down from the Arctic. When they find Gunnar Kaasen, Jack and Annie learn the medicine is lost. If you want to find out if Jack and Annie can find the medicine and get it back to the town of Nome, read this great book! I recommend this book for kids ages 8-11. My favorite part of was when Jack and Annie found a dog and brought it home. This was one of my favorite Magic Tree House books so far!
