Little Dee and the Penguin

Little Dee’s dad is a ranger, and he dies. At his funeral, Little Dee meets a bunch of animals that become her friends. It starts out with her spending the night with them, but it soon moves on to a more complicated friendship. They help her with her problems and she helps them with theirs. Some polar bears want to eat a penguin, but Little Dee can’t let that happen.

Little Dee and the Penguin by Christopher Baldwin is a graphic novel that features Little Dee and some of the animals who starred in the comic strip that Mr. Baldwin previously published. Even if you are not familiar with the comic strip, you can enjoy this book as the characters are cute and fun and have good interactions. They don’t always get along, and you learn about how to resolve conflict through them and what you have to do be a good friend.

This book would be good for young readers who like animal stories, and for children seven to nine years old.
