This was a great book to learn about Christopher Columbus. It was interesting to read about his childhood and how he always dreamed of being a sailor. I was surprised to find out how long he had to wait before he could start out on his journey to the West. Christopher Columbus is a perfect example of perseverance. We learned about perseverance in my Taekwondo class. Columbus had a plan and he never gave up, no matter how many times he was told no. He had to wait eight years before he was finally given the money and ships to travel. Most people would probably have given up way before then.

I liked reading about his voyage across the sea. My favorite part was when he called the native people Indians because he thought he was in India, but he was really in the Bahamas. It made me sad that he captured some of them and they got diseases. This book was easy to read and had very nice pictures on every page. If you like reading about interesting people, this is a good book for you.
