Janine
Janine is a little girl who is not like everyone else. Her classmates think she is strange. Janine likes to read the dictionary. She uses really big words like “spectacular” and “extraordinary,” and she remembers silly facts like Babe Ruth played for the Red Sox in 1914. One girl in her class is having a party but does not invite Janine. She says Janine is strange and has to change. But Janine says she will not change and will just have her own party, and everyone is invited. All of her classmates want to come to Janine’s party instead.
I loved the book Janine. I really liked that Janine was a little bit strange. It shows that it is ok to be different and if you are nice to other people, they will want to be your friend. I loved the illustrations and adore how they drew Janine, with different colored socks and four pigtails. My favorite part was the cheer that Janine made up. I was able to read this book all by myself. I think other kids would like Janine, especially kids who are a little bit different than everyone else.
