This story is about a little girl who has an aunt who is from Mexico but has been living here in the United States for a long time. Libby’s great Aunt Lobo is studying to take a test so she can be an American Citizen. Libby is learning the pledge at school and she will get to stand up in front of everyone at the end of the week and lead the pledge for the whole class. Libby and her aunt practice saying the pledge every night so they will both be ready. This reminds me of when I was learning the pledge at school I had to say it everyday and know I know it by heart. I think the illustrations in this book were really good, but I thought the story was just ok. It is not the type of story I normally like to read. I didn’t know people had to take a test to become an American citizen so I did learn something new. I did like how they practice and practice until they learned the whole Pledge. I know that if you practice something hard enough you can get really good at things.
