House of Ivy & Sorrow
The book is about Jo, your not-so-typical witch who is hunted by “shadows.” Shadows are males who can curse witches to gain their powers…and they want Jo’s power. A whole lot of drama goes on from meeting her dad for the first time, saving him, saving her best friends, fighting Consumption, boyfriend problems, friend problems, curses, her mom dies and her grandma is dying. That is just the beginning.
Throughout the story you feel more and more for the characters and their problems, and there’s a bit of a love triangle, too. Also throughout the story Jo learns that she well never settle for ordinary. She must learn how to reverse a curse and how important it is to listen to the people you know.
Make sure you have a good stash of pudding around while you read – it’s brought up a lot and may start some major cravings. It also has a good ending that might make people read the book over and over again. It is a very good book that I’m sure many people who like books with magic will really really like.
