Good Egg and Bad Apple
Good Egg is good and doesn’t get in trouble; Bad Apple is a bully who is mean. Bad Apple’s only friend is the Second Banana. The other foods never play with Bad Apple. He becomes a big bully, but later Good Egg asks Bad Apple to play capture the flag, and then they all play together and the Bad Apple becomes nice. The apple is a bully when he doesn’t get to play in any games and he feels left out. Bad Apple really just wants to make friends, so when the others let him play, he feels happy and he doesn’t have to be mean anymore.
This book is full of puns and jokes about fruits and vegetables. In the end, the author lists the idioms in the story. If you like silly puns, this is a good book for you. All the characters except Good Egg and a carton of Half & Half are fruits and vegetables with arms and legs. The moral is that bullies sometimes just feel left out. If you are nice to someone, even a bully, you may find a new friend.
