Go to Sleep, Little Farm
I read a book called Go to Sleep, Little Farm written by Mary Lynn Ray and illustrated by Christopher Silas Neal. This book is about a lot of different farm and forest animals who are going to sleep. “Now is the dark time. Now night has come. Now is the time that dreams bloom from.” There is a little girl in this book, too! I like when the little girl pretends to be some of the animals, like the bear and the mice. The characters are all of the animals, like bees, horses, chickens, and beavers. If I could choose one word to describe the illustrations in this book, I would pick the word “warm.” I was surprised to learn about how beavers can sleep! “Somewhere a beaver weaves a bed in a bog.” My favorite part in this book was “the owl who whoo-whoo-hoots!” What kind of reader do I think would like this book? I would say beginning readers who like farm animals should enjoy this book. This book is special because there are lots and lots of animals and the little girl, too.
