Fowl Play
This book says a lot of figures of speech, and everyone keeps on saying, “Oh I’m sorry” to the animal that’s in the figure of speech. Like there’s this rat, and the rat says, “I too expect foul play,” but then says he’s sorry to Morgan, the chicken. Someone says, “There’s something fishy going on!” and then says, “I’m sorry” to the fish. Then the fish says he suspects some monkey business, then tells the monkey he’s sorry. The story is that there was a broken window and the detective agency came to figure out what happened. The detectives were all sorts of animals. The owner of the window actually just broke it himself so he could have someone else fix it. He had misspelled a sign on the window and he didn’t want to pay to fix it, so he broke it. This book is fun. The animals are funny because they keep using these figures of speech that might make another animal upset if that was what was really happening, like “to grab the bull by the horns” to solve the case. It doesn’t really mean to hold on to the bull’s horns; it means to solve the case.
