Family Poems for Every Day of the Week: Poemas Familiares Para Cada Dia de la Semana
This is a poetry book about the days of the week and what makes each one special. It is different than other books I have reviewed because it is also written in Spanish. The Spanish verses are right next to the English ones. I keep trying to understand what the Spanish words mean by comparing them to the English ones next to them.
The boy who narrates the book enjoys most days, but he does not like getting up to go to school on Monday morning. Saturday is his favorite day because he gets to play all day.
The pictures in this book are nice and colorful. I like how they are designed, with intricate patterns. I love the butterflies that are on the page about Friday!
Family is obviously very important to the boy. Being with family, talking, eating, and playing are included in every single poem. I learned from reading this book that the names of the days of the week come from the names of ancient gods, goddesses, and planets. I like this book, and I think other kids should read it!
